| Back with the heavyweight jamz! After an eight week hiatus, I'm ready to post again. Why did I disappear in the first place, you may ask? Well, I was spending a lot of time on my entries, and I really needed to focus on school. Plus, I felt like at the time maybe I was starting to get too concerned with what I was writing.
I did reasonably well in all my classes, I got Bs across the board. I was shooting for As, but I got tired so I slacked. Oh well. I don't have a scholarship to lose, I'm happy with the amount of knowledge I absorbed throughout the semester, and the balance between school, work, and everything else (except stupid damn sleep which I am constantly battling against!) led to a lot of personal growth for me. No regrets there. And when I consider the fact that I was essentially a high school dropout at one point, above average grades at a state university start to look pretty impressive.
Well, besides all of that there's not too much to report. I sold a bunch of stuff on ebay - a digital mixer I didn't really like and a bunch of video games I didn't need and would likely never play again, to the tune of $1350. Swank. I had to put about $500 into my car, but I also bought a guitar amp (A Roland JC-120, for those who are interested - and it's got JBL E-120s - just like Jer-Bear's!!!) which has yet to arrive because it's so damn heavy the seller can't figure out how to ship it. In addition, I put down the initial payment on an Ernie Ball MusicMan Albert Lee -

It looks just like the one above, except it's in transparent blue (to show off the swamp ash) with an abalone pickguiard and black pickup covers. So it's a semi-custom guitar - limited configuration choices but it is being built especially for me, should be a few months before it's done, though. Waiting sucks, but I think chances are decent I'll have the guitar for the rest of my life, and it's basically my dream guitar (as far as electrics go). It looks like a strat-style configuration, but it's really more like a telecaster with reverse-wound/reverse polarity middle pickup and 5-position pickup selector switch (like a strat) since it has a fixed bridge, a single tone control, and a bridge pickup with a metal baseplate. What I like most is that it's a world-class guitar in terms of build quality, but it's modest in terms of appointments(glitz) and it was designed with playability and useability in mind (wax/gunstock-oil rubbed neck finish, 6 pound & 5 ounce weight, sculpted and offset body, locking tuners, easy access truss rod, etc.) - so it's not something I'll be afraid to play because it's *too* nice or because it's impractical.
Anyway, I hope to get together with a lot of you guys over the summer, I'll be moseying on over to your xangas soon enough to check out what everybody else has been up to.
Cheers, Claude

| School days, fool days! This is great. Spring break ends, and just as I'm ready to segue back into classes, we get a half snow day with a good possibility of another to follow tomorrow. I like that. I like that a lot.
J Dilla/Jay Dee is the baddest! For the uninitiated, he's a hip-hop producer - but not just your average hip-hop producer. His instrumental tracks are engaging enough to listen to on their own over...and over...and over. I don't know how to describe it really, it's just really emotive stuff for me, and the groove factor is unsurpassed. Sadly, he recently died after a long struggle with lupus and other medical complications. Amazingly, he made some of his most beautiful tracks (virtually all of his last album, "Donuts") while in the hospital, essentially on his deathbed, and he died only three days after it's release.
You can check out some of his tracks on his myspace - http://www.myspace.com/jdilla - unfortunately some of the versions of tracks on that site have some rapping over them that's not all that great, but the album version of Donuts is totally instrumental. "Two can win" on myspace doesn't have any annoying mc'ing, so check that one out.

| At the crossroads of life...One must make decisions. Decisions that can affect the rest of one's Saturday. Decisions like "Do I stay up all night and party tonight, and then go to work on no sleep and possibly still buzzing a little bit, or do I stay home and try to make myself go to bed at a reasonable time?"
I feel like I should do the responsible thing, but the responsible thing makes me feel like a loser. Not that I have any reason to actually celebrate St. Patrick's day, I have very little Irish in me. I guess it's just an excuse to party, and that's cool. I should do a little more of that, really. But I don't really need to push it anymore at work, I really haven't been a model employee lately and I've gotten quite a few lucky breaks.
I'm leaning towards staying home...but hey! Anybody who would like to can drunk dial me at (660) 441-1960 - I promise to humor you in your inebreated stupor. If you tell me you love me, I will tell you that I love you, too - even if I don't mean it. That's a Claude promise! If I don't pick up, just leave a voice mail, preferably something as embarassing as possible...for both of us.
Man...my spring break sure has been wild - working, studying...watch out, because I'm setting the night on fire, baby! If you are a cousin prime, or some kind of mathematical series, you'd better watch out, because I might just have to solve you - and I will show all my work. If you're one of the toilets at work, I might just have to scrub you. There's really no telling, I'm a loose cannon - men's room, women's room, I don't discriminate. I'll be there, and I'll bring my good friend Kay - Kay has plenty of Spirit, if you know what I mean.
Well, I did do one fun thing...dinner and a movie with my new accomplice Joo. The movie (Nochnoi Dozor) was fairly rediculous although entertaining, the dinner was pretty good (although I've done much better - I thought we'd be under a bigger time crunch!), the wine was quite tasty, and the company was top notch.
Man...it's late...or early. Something. I don't even know anymore...but I have a feeling it would be better for me to sleep, even though I'd really rather keep going for several more hours.
Until next time, keep reaching for those stars! And seriously - drunk dial, you and me, tonight. Let's do this thing. Even if you don't know me that well, or at all. Hell, especially if you don't know me that well, or at all.
Cheers, Claude

| Those eyes...For those that don't know, on Friday I'm cooking at Tess's (11a-1p). I'm making chicken & beef(or perhaps lamb) kabobs, falafel, and greek salad. It'll be tasty!
If any vegetarians would like to attend, let me know ahead of time so I can make a couple vegetable kabobs for you - unless you just want falafel & salad, then it doesn't really matter. :)
It was crazy, I was driving down that windy road that lies between the north & south campus, and I got stuck behind this shuttle going about 20mph. So me and about 5 cars behind me are plodding along behind it, and suddenly, the shuttle just speeds up and starts going between 35-40, brushing curbs, edging into the opposing lane, and just generally driving quite spiritedly (to put it kindly). I hope the shuttle was empty, that definitely didn't look safe. Of course, I drive like that constantly, but not in an oversized van with 20 people inside!
I'm drinking a Mountain Dew LiveWire. Yuck city. I used to down MD like a depressed doctor (get it...down MD - depressed doctor - har har). But now it just tastes like gross syrup water. But I need my caffeine fix and I don't want to leave campus for coffee.
Well, I reckon I'd best get to studyin'. I'm-a just mosey on outta here. Y'all come back now, hear?
Cheers y'all, Claude
